At the event “Protecting Democracy,” I had the opportunity to visually capture the inspiring lectures and discussions through my graphic recording. The event provided exciting insights into the challenges and opportunities for democratic processes in Austria and Europe.
After a warm welcome from Christian Meidlinger and Peter Marchsteiner, who focused on the key year 2024, the content program began:
- Mag.a Zandonella presented current findings from the Democracy Monitor.
- Andreas Peham highlighted the dangers of far-right propaganda in post-democracy.
- Richard Tiefenbacher demonstrated in his lecture “Manipulation Reloaded” how democratic opinion formation is deliberately influenced.
A special highlight was the FishBowl discussion, where participants and speakers reflected together on the state of democracy and future developments in Austria and the EU. The event impressively showcased how important continuous dialogue and collective efforts to protect our democracy are.
With my graphic recording, I visualized the diverse perspectives and impulses to make them tangible and sustainably usable. The image was printed on a postcard on-site and given to the participants as a keepsake.
